Motormanmark’s Surefire Midwinter Flu Tonic
Relieve the sick sinuses and sore throat of a midwinter flu with Motormanmark’s midwinter brew:
Take a chunk of ginger (a tan root about the size of half a carrot, obtained at any grocery store) and slice it thinly. Boil the slices in a quart pot of water with a sliced-up lemon or a tablespoon or two of lemon juice (be careful: lemon juice in a bottle is easy to overdo.) Sweeten to taste with honey. Drink as is, or you can dip a tea bag into your cup if that’s something you want to do.
This is a not only a great tonic, but also an excellent way to show what a caring friend you are.
Other surefire ways to combat winter sickness? Homemade chicken soup always brings great relief. Drink lots of water and stay away from coffee and alcohol, both which make your body lose water and sap your immune system.
Heavy exercise is not helpful. Sleep, of course, is very helpful.
Keep your slippers on.
